Award Winning Food in a Genuine Pub

A glance at the menus and it’s clearly evident the White Horse takes food very seriously. The White Horse was awarded ‘Suffolk’s Best Food Pub’ in 2008, 2009 and again in 2011, the only pub to receive this prestigious accolade on more than one occasion.

In recognition of their culinary excellence, the White Horse was awarded an AA Rosette in January 2011. When 'The Good Pub Guide' 2012 was published, they were named 'County Dining pub of the Year'. The White Horse also possesses the highest possible Food Hygiene Rating of 5.

The food emphasis is very simple, take the finest and freshest local ingredients and create seasonal changing menus that represent the very best of British food. Free range meats and poultry from local farms, fresh fish from the North Sea and when in season game from the village shoot feature highly on the menus. Salads, herbs and vegetables come from the pub’s own garden; it doesn't get fresher than that.

Head chef Michael McMullen together with Sous chef James Finch embrace everthing that is good about home cooking. Their dishes are not complicated, simply prepared with passion and presented with care. All foods on offer are made on the premises, bread to ice cream, stocks to pastries.

Lunch is served 12-2, Monday-Saturday with sandwiches also available, dinner is served 6.45-9.00, Monday-Saturday. Look out for blackboards with daily specials, traditional roasts are served on Sundays. You can choose to eat in the bar with its raised gallery, the heavily beamed dining room or in the wonderful sheltered gardens.
