Award Winning Food in a Genuine Pub
A glance at the menus and it’s clearly evident the White Horse takes food very seriously. The White Horse was awarded ‘Suffolk’s Best Food Pub’ in 2008, 2009 and again in 2011, the only pub to receive this prestigious accolade on more than one occasion.
In recognition of their culinary excellence, the White Horse has held an AA Rosette since 2011. 'Suffolk Dining Pub of the Year' came their way in 2012 and 2015 courtesy of the 'Good Pub Guide'.
The food emphasis is very simple, take the finest and freshest local ingredients and create seasonal changing menus that represent the very best of British food. Free range meats and poultry from local farms, fresh fish from the North Sea and when in season game from the village shoot feature highly on the menus. When possible salads, herbs and vegetables come from the pub’s own garden; it doesn't get fresher than that.
Head chef Gareth Knights and his team team embrace all that is good about home cooking. Their dishes are not complicated, simply prepared with passion and presented with great care. All dishes are made on the premises, breads to ice cream, stocks to pastries.
Lunch is served 12-2, Monday to Saturday (closed Tuesday lunch), dinner is served 6.30-9.00, Monday-Saturday. Traditional roasts are served on Sundays 12-2.30 and again between 7-8.30. Lookout for daily changing specials. You can choose to eat in the bar, the rather unusual raised gallery or the elegantly beamed dining room. Outside the hidden courtyard with its Mediterranean styled sheltered terrace makes for a wonderful alfresco location.
