Introduction

The Sibton White Horse is a charming 16th century inn located in a remote village within the glorious Suffolk countryside. Detached and adjacent to the pub are 6 award winning self contained bedrooms. We look forward to welcoming you to the White Horse and sharing with you our passion for good food and fine hospitality. The following statement is a summary of the services and facilities you can expect.

Pre-Arrival

  • There is only 1 bus to and from Saxmundham town/railway station each day (except Sunday). The bus stop for Sibton is 1 mile from the White Horse.
  • Saxmundham and Darsham railway stations are both 15 minutes away by car. Train timetable available at www.raileasy.co.uk or telephone 0845 600 72 45.
  • There are 2 local taxi companies, Peasenhall cars: 01728 660473 and Country Cars: 01728 638558.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

  • There is a large car park adjacent to the accommodation with a short concrete path leading to the pub/reception. The car park is a level flat slight loose surface with no raised kerb stones and ample lighting.
  • We can assist guests with their luggage.

Main Entrance, Reception & Ticketing Area

  • Reception is at the bar within the pub.
  • The bar entrance has a low concrete ramp and a inward opening door measuring 750mm wide.
  • The door is generally locked between 3 and 6pm, during this period guests are required to press the door bell for assistance.
  • Guests are escorted to their rooms and the facilites explained.

Public Areas – Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc

  • There is a short corridor leading from the bar through to the rear courtyard. Off this corridor is the ladies and gents toilets.
  • Entrance to the toilets is 6 metre from the bar area.
  • Exit into the courtyard is through a opening out door, the door is

780mm wide and has a threshold step of 130mm high. There is an

alternative entrance to the courtyard via the garden.

  • All bedrooms have their own seating area.
  • The pub provides extra seating during opening hours.

Public WCs

  • The ladies WCs within the pub has an inward opening door with a width of 720mm (wheel chair access) and a quarry tiled floor. Window provides natural light.
  • The ladies facility has 2 cubicles with inward opening doors 700mm wide (no wheel chair access), hand wash basin with soap dispenser and paper towels.
  • The gents WC within the pub has an inward opening door with a width of 720mm (no wheel chair access due to privacy panel) and a quarry tiled floor. Window provides natural light.
  • The gents facility has 1 cubicle with inward opening door 700mm wide, hand wash basin with soap dispenser and paper towels, traditional floor level urinal trough.

Restaurant / Dining Room, Bar & Bar area, Take Away & Cafe

  • The dining room is entered from the bar, door width 760mm.
  • The bar floor surface is smooth quarry tiles, the dining room has a short pile carpet.
  • Both bar and dining room have plenty of natural light, traditional wall lights provide for low artificial light.
  • Furniture is flexible and can be moved on request, chairs are available with and without arms.
  • Leg room beneath tables is 630mm.
  • Low sensitive background music is played throughout, the speakers can be turned off in the dining room.
  • Full waitress service is available.
  • Tables can be reserved at prefered times.
  • All diets catered for, please discuss at the time of booking.
  • Food orders taken as follows: breakfast 8.30 – 9.15, lunch 12.00 – 2.00, dinner 18.30 – 21.00 (currently closed Monday lunch).
  • Meal expenses can be transfered to rooms for payment on departure.

  • The pub sits on 4 acres of land, on the edge of a village overlooking the countryside.
  • At the rear of the pub is a newly constructed courtyard with a feature 16th century cart lodge. The courtyard has mainly a loose gravel surface, within the courtyard there is a slab patio and a raised deck with a shelter, the step onto the deck is 220mm high.
  • There are plenty of outside tables and chairs, some with shade.
  • The sheltered deck is used by smokers in inclement weather.
  • Access to the courtyard is through the bar, however if better suited, there is a rear gated entrance.
  • At the front of the pub there is further outdoor furniture.
  • Adjacent to the accommodation is a large lawn area with outdoor furniture and sun shades.

Bedrooms & Sleeping Areas

  • Detached and adjacent to the pub are 6 self contained bedrooms, all bedrooms have been refurbished in the last 2 years.
  • Rooms 1,2 and 3 are on the first floor, rooms 4,5 and 6 are on the ground floor.
  • Access to rooms 1,2,3,4 and 5 is from a small foyer, room 6 has its own independent entrance.
  • The foyer entrance door opens in with a width of 750mm, there are 2 steps at 100mm and 150mm high. The foyer door remains unlocked at all times.
  • Rooms 1,2 and 3 are off the first floor landing via a staircase, the staircase has a left hand rail and 12 steps, each step measures 770mm wide, 200mm high, with a tread width of 250mm deep. The landing is 1m wide by 10m long.
  • Rooms 4 and 5 are off the foyer.
  • Foyer, staircase and landing have short pile carpet.
  • The lighting in the foyer is timed from dusk to 1am. Further lighting for the foyer, staircase and landing is from activated time delayed switches, there is 1 switch inside the foyer and 2 on the landing.
  • Strictly no smoking in rooms or around external entrances. Strictly no pets.
  • All 6 rooms have the following in common: Inward opening entrance doors measuring en-suite facilities, fire protection, modern thermostatic controlled heating, wall mounted flat screen TV/DVD with multi channels, teletext and remote control, hospitality tray with cordless kettle, hair dryer, free wireless connection for personal laptops, natural daylight in the bedroom, short pile carpet, matching antique pine furniture, bed side tables with reading lamps, lounge seats, towels and toiletries, quilts and pillows containing no feathers.
  • Room 1: Sleeps 3 persons, master bedroom with double bed, further small inter connecting room with single bed.
  • Room 2: Sleeps 1 person, single bed.
  • Room 3: Sleeps 2 persons, king size bed.
  • Room 4: Sleeps 2 persons, double bed.
  • Room 5: Sleeps up to 4 persons, master bedroom with double bed, further small inter connecting room with either single bed or bunk beds.
  • Room 6: Sleeps up to 3 persons, double bed and single bed. This room can be used as a double, twin or family room. This room is suited to a less able person and offers the following extras: concrete ramp access, 1m high 13amp sockets, wet room (see bathroom section below), wheel chair access from double bed to wet room.

Future Plans

  • Since the arrival of proprietors Neil & Gill Mason in October 2005 many improvements have been made to the White Horse. Probably the most significant being the bedrooms refurbishment which was completed in May 2008 with room 6.
  • There are no further alteration plans in the near future.
