Honestly fresh, home-cooked, tasty satisfying food
Never has there been more emphasis on good food, the foodie revolution continues to roll on. That doesn’t mean our dishes are pretentious or over complicated, nothing could be further from the truth. Our food is honestly fresh, all home-cooked, tasty and very satisfying.
Happy diners come from happy chefs, it’s critical chefs cook the type of food they love. Our chefs live for their cooking and their boundless need to produce some of the finest dishes is infectious.
Behind the kitchen team’s continuously changing menus are some simple things; carefully selected prime seasonal ingredients from local [suppliers] including that from our own kitchen garden; sympathetic cooking to retain maximum flavour and structure; balancing contrasting flavours and simple imaginative presentation.
Our lunch menu is available Wednesday to Saturday and ranges from some of those pub classics to something a little more interesting. Fresh wholesome sandwiches made from our own daily baked bread are also available. At lunchtime children are catered for with a choice of smaller plates.
Our Dinner menu is designed to tantalise your taste buds and illustrates food from the counties pastures, woods, hedgerows and of course the sea. Look out for the ‘specials’ board in the evening.
Sunday without a roast is unimaginable. Our Sunday lunch offering consists of no less than two roasts, two fish and two vegetarian dishes.
Vegetarians are definitely not left out and we believe in them having choice. Our vegetarian dishes are equally important to us and receive the same focus as meat dishes. We are happy to cater for vegans but it would be best you advise us in advance. For those with allergy concerns we are always happy to advise and adjust dishes accordingly.
Our kitchen has been consistently recognised for its excellent food. We proudly hold 2 AA Rosettes and have been awarded Suffolk’s Dining Pub of the year on eight occasions whilst under the same ownership.
