A beer garden is an essential part of summer

When the weather heats up there’s nothing better than enjoying life in a relaxing pub garden, it’s as if sunshine and cold beer were made for each other.

Behind the pub we have a gem of a garden in the shape of a secluded courtyard, only accessible through the main bar it comes as a lovely surprise for those visiting for the first time.

A real suntrap with plenty of shade too, it’s the perfect place to pass time idly whilst quenching your thirst or tucking into some fine alfresco.

Herbaceous borders, pots and hanging baskets provide year round colour, the summer in particular is drenched with a blaze of apricot shades. Palms, grasses and oleanders complete the Mediterranean feel.

There are two covered heated terraces providing shade or protection from any inclement weather. Under there is ample comfortable tables and chairs surrounded by culinary herbs as used by the kitchen.

The garden is equally impressive when dark falls with strategic lighting designed to showcase various aspects. The main feature of the courtyard is a rather interesting cart lodge. Centuries old, it is reminiscent of something from a children’s nursery rhyme.
